A high intensity low frequency active sonar system can blast hundreds of thousands of square miles of ocean habitat with noise so intense it can maim, deafen and even kill whales. A life-saving reprieve has been granted to dozens of species of magnificent marine mammals, because a federal court judge has ruled that the U.S. Navy begin negotiations with the Natural Resources Defense Council on a plan for safely testing the sonar system in a limited area. The judge recognized that the sonar's booming noise can "irreparably harm" the marine environment and threaten the very survival of endangered populations of whales, sea turtles and other marine species.

In Bonobo culture, males and females are more equal than in other great ape cultures which usually evolve around a dominant male.  Bonobos are very laid-back and peace-loving.  Fathers help take care of the children.  You don't see the wild ways you sometimes see between opposing groups of chimps.  And, they're funny.  They love to play.  Of all the great apes, Bonobos are incredibly fast learners.
